The name of this variety, developed in 2003 at the Fujian Provincial Tea Research Institute, refers to the aroma of the shrub, also known as ‘fragrant daphne’ (Daphne odora).
The fairly large, dark, longitudinally twisted leaves with a turquoise sheen have a spicy, intoxicating aroma with floral-berry, honey-fruit and bread notes.
The infusion is viscous, golden-scarlet in colour with a rich, varied taste. There are notes of cinnamon, biscuits, cocoa, vanilla and lychee, with a slight tartness of lily and mandarin. The captivating aftertaste envelops you in a spicy fruit cocktail with rye tones.
The tea slows you down, relaxes you and allows you to look inside yourself.
