Zhong Guo Hong resembles long, thin, bluish-black needles with golden buds. The aroma of the dry leaves is bright and citrusy, with a berry accent in the background. The background notes include white flowers, plum, pear, banana, spicy ginger and cloves.
The infusion is cognac-coloured with sour strawberry notes. The thorough baking and high fermentation of the leaves are evident in the notes of biscuits and rye gingerbread. The aftertaste has hints of citrus and red grape skin.
A delicious, pleasant, excellent red tea. It invigorates and warms, but the tone is soft and thoughtful.
