An experimental red tea made from fragrant oolong leaves. A kind of hybrid tea processed using red tea technology, with a recognisable bright oolong taste and aroma.
The long greenish-brown leaves with a reddish tinge are slightly rolled lengthwise and give off the scent of sweet fruits and berries: kiwi, gooseberry, orange, green apple. When warmed by breathing, the aroma becomes more multifaceted: floral, sweet, baked, with a creamy note. It is reminiscent of a sweet bun with fruit jam.
The infusion is honey-coloured with a bright confectionery aroma. There are hints of vanilla, berry tartness, the aroma of meadow flowers, and notes of fresh pastries. The taste of the infusion is more like warmed oolong than red tea: delicate, airy, full of shades from sour citrus, blueberry, watermelon and melon to sweet vanilla-caramel and warming cinnamon spice. A lingering citrus-berry aftertaste. Slightly astringent.
The tea has a mild, medium intensity. It warms, lifts the mood, calms the mind and gives a feeling of comfort. A very interesting ceremonial tea in the intermediate zone between red and strongly warmed oolongs, so it will appeal to lovers of both.
