A distinctive feature of this variety is the size of the tea leaves, which differ greatly from other oolongs — they are quite large, broad and fleshy. The dry leaves are dark in colour, ranging from grey-brown to black. The aroma is rich, with notes of cinnamon, caramel, cream, vanilla and a hint of pollen.
The infusion is the colour of aged cognac with notes of rye bread, coffee and a light tobacco aroma. The taste is sweet and spicy. There are hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, rich pastries, a little cocoa, raisins, grapefruit, vanilla and jasmine, caramel and buckwheat honey. The aftertaste is long-lasting and sweet with a metallic hint.
The effect is calm and relaxed with a gradual, increasing tone.
